Meadowhall & hair dye.

9.1.11

I popped to Meadowhall this morning (I say "popped", we were a good 2 hours!) and I picked up some things from The Body Shop - first on my list was a new facial buffer. I love these little things. Perfect for popping a bit of face wash on and scrubbing away. I have had one before and it made a really big difference to the look and feel of my skin.

I spotted this delightful hairbrush which is made with natural bamboo and popped it in my basket. I need a round brush as my hair needs a bit of help to look sleek towards the ends. It was only £6.00 which I thought was quite reasonable.

Finally I got some Vitamin E wipes as, when I use Double Wear foundation, face wash alone doesn't always remove it so I like to use face wipes as well. I have used these ones before and they were nice and gentle on my skin.

The last time I dyed my hair I wasn't overly pleased with the results colour-wise, and it left my hair looking a little bit red which I hated. I have been dying to ('scuse the pun) dye it again ever since but I wanted to wait as I'm pretty sure one of these days my hair is going to fall out.

I picked up a packet of my faithful Nice n Easy 'Natural Dark Brown' yesterday which I have used a couple of times before - I first bought it as I thought the lady on the front was the prettiest of the brown colours :) The colour is spot on and it leaves my hair feeling silky, plus the tube of conditioner lasts for a few washes, so I think I'll stick to this in future. Plus it's only around £5.00.

Have you had any hair disasters lately?

  1. I love TBS Facial Buffer, but I picked up their Facial Brush yesterday as I've heard really good things about that too. I'll have to do a comparison on them. Really wanna go darker for the winter but haven't taken the plunge yet.

  3. i decided last summer it would be a good idea to DIY my hair blonde at home from my natural brunette.
let's just say it didn't go well and after a few attempts i gave up and two days later made a mad dash to asda at midnight with the boy to buy some human coloured hair dye lol

definately don't recommend trying to achieve drastic changes at home lol i've learnt my lesson :(

  4. Is the facial buffer quite rough? I'm tempted to buy one, or even the brush and their massager but dont want to if it's quite harsh?

  7. I've heard so many good things about the Facial Buffer. I'm currently using their face brush which is pretty good.
Hope the new hair dye turns out well :) x

  8. No disasters, but I ombre it which is a nightmare for me! Because my hair is dyed anyway I have to have it dyed all over when the roots start to show, then I have to bleach the ends again and then apply the ombre colour......such a chore! Plus i have to sit in the salon with bizarre backcombed hair so I don't get a dead straight line of colour. Not a great look.

The things we do for beauty, eh?

  11. Ooh I've never tried the body shop face buffer. I have really sensitive skin with excema in some areas so I'm really tentative about buying things that could be too harsh. Is it a soft thing to scrub with, or would you maybe not recommend it for some with extra sensitive skin?

I hate it when hair dyes don't come out the way you want them to! I'm living my worst hair nightmare at the moment. I got a perm (on a stupid whim) and have regretted it ever since. Because my hair was bleached udnerneath from when I had previously had red hair the texture of my hair is awful. Thankfully it's growing out now but when it has bleach underneath the brown and is permed the hair is so weak and just breaks off constantly! But I'm too scared to go to a hairdressers in case they cut it all off! Hence why I constantly wear my hair up.

  13. I use Nice and Easy too, it's the only one my Ma will dye my hair with, she doesn't trust anything else. I do like the red in my hair though so I pick the reddest one.

Have you seen the advert for their new mousse one? I wouldn't mind giving that a go! x

  14. I'm still trying to find my hair mojo. Some days I miss the bright blonde, other days I hate my current colour, and other days I want to go dark. Tried it dark and hated it, so don't know why I'm feeling like it lol. I do know I don't like the colour it's faded to at the moment though! xx

  16. Love those face buffers from the Body Shop! They're my saviour some mornings!
I've been a very good girl with my hair recently - just getting half a head of highlights every 9 weeks and a trim every other appointment. I have the urge to do something more fun with it but I'm trying to be sensible here! xxx

  17. I haven't been in the body shop for ages, used to get all my stuff from there but then I feel in love with Lush! When I was a teenager I used to dye my hair all the time and on quite a few occasions it went horribly wrong ie ending up bright orange or dying it black and it going a horrid brown colour after a week. I always get it done by the hairdressers now and even though it's more expensive I don't want to risk it cos I get it bleached. Saying that, I'm sure your hair will look great, always easier if you go dark =)

  18. Didn't realise you lived close to Meadow Hell! I'm often in there as my boyfriend is from Barnsley. I love that it has a Lush, H&M AND Primark! Much better than the Trafford Centre anyways x

  19. @Lauren - I don't, but my bf does :) x

  20. I used the same dye as you and also have a red tinge which I hate! Don't think I'll be using it again. I'm waiting 'til payday then I'm booking straight in at the hairdressers - I hate dying my own hair! x
