Hair envy: Frankie Sandford

3.7.10

Greetings from Gibraltar! As I'm ready for dinner before everyone else I thought I would log into Blogger and see what's happening. I have missed soo many new blog posts; I'm never going to catch up!!

I'm having a lovely time. If you don't know, I'm visiting my Sister and her boyfriend who live in Gibraltar. I'm here for a week but I've got a couple of weeks off work which means lots of chill out time and of course chance to catch up with my Sis! So far we have done a bit of sunbathing and lots of sightseeing. Today we drove to Spain and visited a safari park which was HUGE and brilliant. We're very tired but will be heading out soon for tea and a few beers. Tomorrow we're heading to the beach for the day so I'm hoping to top up my tan.

The one thing that is driving me mad in the hot weather is my hair. It is dry, dull, my half-grown out fringe is driving me crazy and my blonde is coming through. No matter what I do with it it never looks right so I tie it up. It got me thinking.. if it's always tied up it may as well be short!

I used to have my hair like this and I am seriously tempted to have it cut like this again. Frankie Sandford is the ultimate short hair idol. Choppy, glossy and sophisticated; she always looks fab.

What do you think? Persevere with growing it long or go for the chop?

  2. I love her hair :) but Ive recently cut my hair short, not as short as frankies but just above my shoulder and I'm missing my long hair sooo much, you really can only wear it the one way, and you cant do very much with it, so if you like your hair long, just grin and bare it till it gets long and your fringe grows out properly, thats what im doing now :) enjoy the rest of your hols xxx

  3. I got my hair cut like frankie's from being really long & love it. I actually don't think I would go back to long hair. Make sure you 100% want it done though :) x

  5. I absolutely love her hair, but hate to think how much grooming and product it would need! Would suit you though :) xo

  7. Hey! sounds like you are having fun besides the hair issues. I always find it hard on hols to cope with my hair, its naturally curly and all the in and out of water and the sun means its frizzy, dry and curly - yuk!
I too used to have very short hair, I find though that it takes even more maintenance than longer hair (needs to be cut a lot more often, cant do much with it to change it up, cant just tie it up if its a mess etc), I personally love your hair but I am sure you would suit short hair too :o)

Enjoy the rest of your hols! xoxo

  8. I had my hair cut similar to this about 3 weeks ago because I have really thick wavy hair which in summer is completely unmanageable and drives me insane.

I'd say definitely go for the chop! It's a style which is so easily managed and lets face it, it's only hair, it'll grow back!

    xx

  9. Frankie is so pretty & really does have gorgeous hair.

With this hot weather I've been wishing I could get rid of some of my hair, but I know full well I couldn't pull it off! If you can - do it!

Glad you're having a good time in Gibraltar :)

  11. I love Frankie's hair i think its quite edgy and I like that she is brave and bold enough to wear it and carry it off! However I think it looks quite high maintenance and I like to be able to throw my hair into a mess bun when im having a bad hair day. Hope you are having a fab holiday hun. I miss you on twitter xx

  13. She is gorgeous isn't she.

I think you'd suit short hair, you have the right face shape. I think the brown you've got with maybe some honey and caramel highlights around the front. And definitely the cut style Frankie has got going on.

Be brave. If your hair grows quick then it'll be ok....

    X x

p.s I do really like your long hair though. :)

  15. I LOVE frankie's hair but would never have the guts to cut it that short. I know what you mean about hair getting in the way in the heat, i just had 3 and a half inches chopped off because its too hot. I regret it though because i spent 2 years growing out my hair for nothing! x

  18. I love her hair but it would never work on my curly hair :(
I also liked her hair when it was longer - she's so lucky she suits it both ways! xxxx

  19. I have had the chop twice. both with Frankies hair. I loved it the first time, but totally regretted in the second time.
I however still want it done again.
I want long gorgeous hair a la, Zoella, but its never going to happen as my hair just doesn't go like that!
I think you should do it, it does grow back after all :)

  28. I am having exactly the same dilema! I've wanted Frankies hair for so long but have been scared to cut it. I'm tempted to just go for it now though. As everyone has said it's only hair it'll grow back. I say we both go for it! :)

  29. I just came across your blog after searching Frankie Sandford/hairstyle etc. as I feel the same!

Her hair is so gorgeous and I am so, so tempted to cut mine like it. I'd had long hair for four years or so up until September when I got it cut shoulder-length, and then about a month ago I got it cut into a much shorter graduated bob which I love, but I think I'll eventually get it cut like Frankie's because I just love it so much.

I worry that it won't suit me though! :/

Also, I have the same problem as you with my hair in the heat.

Your blog looks really good so I've followed you :)

  30. I have this exact hairstyle right now (except mine is red) and love it. Honestly, I have had short hair forever and the best thing about it is that it grows really fast. So, even if you hate it, it'll grow out soon AND there are sooooo many cute headbands out there to wear anyway

  31. I had my hair cut like this a few weeks ago and i liked it at first but then it would just go all messy and really hard to handle i now want extensions because of it. but i see what you mean about the heat but i LOVE your hair long xx

  32. I'm going to be the odd one out and say don't do it! I have short hair right now, its about the same length as frankies around the back but I don't have the long bangs, mine are just sitting on my eyebrows.

It's OK, I'm living with it but cant wait to have long hair back in a few years. My girlfriends say I rock the haircut and hubby likes it too but I just miss having something to play with! I miss pony tails and did I mention I miss having something to flick around and play with.... hahaha...

btw I lost my hair because of chemo so its taken 2 years to get the length I've got now (with regular trimmings).
